Gardner proceeded to compose sixteen Bond books altogether; two of the books he composed – License to Kill and GoldenEye – were novelizations of Eon Productions movies of a similar name. Gardner moved the Bond arrangement into the 1980s, in spite of the fact that he held the times of the characters as they were when Fleming had left them. In 1996 Gardner resigned from composing James Bond books because of sick wellbeing.
